The restaurant was much better than I had expected from the information on line. The general bar for this type of hotel was very expensive.
A really nice hotel that made us feel like we were on holiday even though we wer'nt actually that far from home. Particulally like the design which looks and feels like a holiday hotel even though it is quite central to town. I would imagine it be a lovely venue for a wedding reception. We only stayed one night, for a birthday treat and really enjoyed the luxury of the bedding, the pillows were amazing! And we also had the pool area all to ourselves the next morning. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definately consider coming back.
There didn't seem to be any radiators in the room and so no obvious place to dry the towels out.
Dirty, run down and cold
Nice, attentive staff. Very clean room - a typical 'business' hotel.
Food was expensive so no encouragement to stay at hotel. Breakfast, especially, was very excessive at £15 per person. Non business guests therefore effectively encouraged to drive into St Albans which was 5 miles away!
The staff in particular were extremely friendly, helpful and professional - The breakfast was excellent the facilities were good as was the parking
I liked the atmosphäre and the friendlyness.
The bar,to sterile and not really wellcoming. The Staff could`nt understand english and there wher not nuts to have with the beer!! No good!!!! The Dinner at the Restaurant has been cold, not seasond and for that to expensive.
Had to go to local pub for drinks ,as the main bar was occupied by wedding party
Receptionist was very friendly, breakfast had good choice, shower very good
Room was unbearbley hot even with the radiators turned off, eventually managed to open windows in the middle of the night beds werent that comfy so woke up exhausted. restaurant was fairly slow service and food average. Glad we only had one night there
Close to family and easy reach to St Albans, Watford and London. Swimming pool and jacuzi.
Bed not too comfortable, aircon not working, no mini bar in room.
Courteous and friendly staff, working in a hotel that has an atmosphere that has retained the best of the original features, whilst providing a good modern level of service. A good example of sensitive modernisation which should be left as it is.
The bar is a good example of failed modernisation. It should be properly stocked and totally re-designed to reduce the proportions and make it more cosy. It currently gives the impression of catering for male drinkers who are glued to the (multiple) boxes. Service could certainly be improved here. A facility to be avoided.
having to pay £8 for wifi!! - all other similar hotel chains offer free wifi
The venue is beautiful, very attractive. Rooms were clean and nice. Staff was very courteous. We would stay there again.
The menu was excellent, but four of our five meals ordered were still frozen in the middle. We were given free dessert as a consequence.
A frankly disappointing experience. Needs a visit from the Hotel Inspector. The bar area has an especially awful layout. My room would have been perfectly acceptable for £60 a night. Unfortunately the rate was £110. The location is unrivalled if you absolutely must be within walking distance of the M25.
The booking area and timing was a mess and took way too long, they did not have my booking but I did have my confirmation. The luxury room was an attached family room for children obviously as it was all they had As they had so many wedding parties there was no dining room and the speed of service for the bar meal was terrible "because of the weddings" I was told. I will make it well known it is not a place to book in the UK for the rest of my work mates
Staff are very nice
rooms and decor are tired and worn furniture is stained and dirty. 4* hotels should have free WiFi and provide a chair for the desk in the rooms to allow you to actually use it. This is a 3* hotel at best.
